"Providing Forestry Scholarships for Over 52 Years."

About the Scholarship Program

The Scholarship Program was started in 1968 by the Oregon Logging Conference. In 2013 the Oregon Logging Conference Foundation (OLCF), a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation, was formed. To date the program has awarded over 375 scholarships, totaling over $875,000.

The OLCF offers financial aid to students who are studying in forestry related areas. Applications are accepted starting in December of each year and the applications must be received in the OLCF office no later than April 1st.

Ten to fourteen scholarships are awarded annually.

Scholarships range from $750 to $3,000 each; they are awarded for both two year colleges and four year universities. The scholarship funds may be used for paying tuition and purchasing books- they are sent directly to the recipient's school and are deposited into the student's account. If the recipient does not attend college for the year, the total amount awarded will be returned to the OLCF.

Applications are reviewed by a committee of six to eight members of the Oregon Logging Conference and Oregon Logging Conference Foundation board of directors. The recipients will be chosen by May 1st, after which recipients will be notified of their award by email. When possible, the award is presented to the recipient at their high school awards ceremony.

Applicants must be studying in the following areas:

  • Forest Engineering

  • Forest Management

  • Forest Operations Management

  • Heavy Equipment Maintenance and Welding

  • Resource Management
